Single-mode fibre infrastructure is a significant investment. So when you need more bandwidth, adding new strands is rarely the first choice. The Blue Cable Co® QSFP-100G-B20U4-I-BCC solves this problem differently. It delivers 100Gbps over a single strand of G.652 single-mode fibre, without touching your existing cabling.
This transceiver directly replaces the Cisco QSFP-100G-B20U4-I. It uses a QSFP28 form factor with an LC Simplex connector and reaches up to 20km over a single fibre strand. It operates as the upstream unit of a BiDi pair. As a result, you must deploy it with the downstream counterpart, the QSFP-100G-B20D4-I-BCC. Together, they deliver full-duplex 100G transmission. Moreover, on a redundant link with two fibre strands, you can achieve 200Gbps aggregate capacity.
This transceiver uses four transmit wavelengths in the O-band and four receive wavelengths with NRZ modulation. Consequently, it works in legacy 100G platforms without requiring advanced modulation support. However, host-based RS-FEC must be enabled on the Cisco platform. The transceiver does not include onboard FEC. Therefore, Reed Solomon (528,514) forward error correction needs configuration on the host to achieve the full 20km reach.
The QSFP-100G-B20U4-I-BCC carries an industrial temperature rating. It cold-starts at -40°C and runs in mission mode up to +85°C. As a result, it suits 5G fronthaul and outdoor cabinet deployments well. It also supports DOM for real-time visibility into optical power, temperature, bias current, and voltage. Furthermore, it is hot-pluggable into QSFP28 ports with a CAUI-4 electrical interface. No host reboot or special initialisation is needed.
Every unit gets tested in our Sydney lab for Cisco compatibility. It carries the Blue Cable Co® 5-Year Advanced Warranty and is available now through our authorised Australian distributors, XS Network Tech and IP Trading.
