The Blue Cable Co® QSFP-100G-B20D4-I-BCC works alongside its upstream counterpart (QSFP-100G-B20U4-I-BCC) to deliver full-duplex 100G transmission over a single strand of G.652 single-mode fibre.
This transceiver directly replaces the Cisco QSFP-100G-B20D4-I. It uses a QSFP28 form factor with an LC Simplex connector and reaches up to 20km over a single fibre strand. It operates as the downstream unit of a BiDi pair. As a result, you must deploy it with the upstream counterpart, the QSFP-100G-B20U4-I-BCC, at the far end. Together, they deliver full-duplex 100G transmission on one fibre strand. Moreover, on a redundant link with two fibre strands, you can achieve 200Gbps aggregate capacity.
This transceiver transmits on four O-band wavelengths (1274, 1278, 1282, and 1287nm) and receives on four complementary wavelengths (1296, 1300, 1304, and 1309nm) using NRZ modulation. It works in legacy 100G platforms without requiring advanced modulation support. However, the Cisco platform needs host-based RS-FEC enabled to achieve the full 20km reach. The transceiver does not include onboard FEC. Therefore, the host needs Reed Solomon forward error correction configuration before deployment.
The QSFP-100G-B20D4-I-BCC carries an industrial temperature rating. It cold-starts at -40°C and runs in mission mode up to +85°C. As a result, it suits 5G fronthaul, wireless backhaul, and outdoor cabinet deployments well. It also supports DOM for real-time visibility into transmit power, receive power, temperature, bias current, and voltage. Furthermore, it slots hot-plug into QSFP28 ports with a CAUI-4 electrical interface per IEEE 802.3cu. No host reboot or special initialisation is needed.
